December 1st is plenty soon enough. And if taken down the weekend immediately following New Years is more than enough time. To me it doesn't always help spread cheer but remind me most of us what a tough year it's been. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too early for Christmas music in the stores, but I too heard it just tonight. It's not having a "bah humbug" attitude it's more of like "let's be thankful" first.

Glad to hear you finally got your shoes! Jenn & I saw them a while back at the sketcher store and immediately thought they might be the ones you had mentioned during your visit. I looked at them and wondered if they really did what they were supposed to as the didn't "look" all that great. Yay for good shoes!!

Miss you guys hope to see you soon!

The tree and decorations go up the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving or if we are going out of town for Thanksgiving we will do the tree the weekend before and the outside decor the weekend after. Everything must come down by the weekend closest to New Year's. I love Christmas and I want to enjoy all my hard work I did decorating but I don't want to burn myself out on Christmas cheer.

Well, I have to say that decorations should go up the day after Thanksgiving. Since that's a long weekend for most people, I think it's the perfect time to get that "chore" done. And, frankly, I also think that Christmas music should be allowed right after Thanksgiving, too. (Please don't throw things at me.) But, um, I do agree that Christmas stuff in the stores right now just makes my stomach hurt at the thought of all the Christmas shopping I haven't done yet!!

Oh, and I'm an old person who has walked out of many stores because of the volume of music. Not because it was Christmas music, per se, but just because it was LOUD. Because I'm an 83 year old at heart, I guess.

I'm not fond of any of the hoopla surrounding the winter holidays. Even if I were a bigger fan of the holidays, I'm pretty sure I'd still think that decorations and music should start no sooner than December 1, and I'm even better with the idea of music starting later. And I'm sorry it's been a crappy business year for most, but one way to NOT get my business is to publish your first Christmas ad or air your first Christmas commercial on the day after Halloween (sadly I'm not making that up).
