I dislike traveling. The deciding what to wear, deciding what to pack, getting up early, sitting in the smelly cab, standing in line at the airport, being squished into a little seat in between two people, falling asleep and waking up with a neck cramp, and walking three miles from the plane to the baggage claim. It sucks, and I hate doing it.
That being said, I’m SO glad to be in Detroit today. Our flight left at 9am from LAX, and for the first time in a long time, we had a direct flight. Minus one small incident, Mom wasn’t even that difficult to travel with this time. (Sorry Mom, but sometimes you are.) Picking up the car was fairly easy, and we didn’t even get lost on the way to the hotel. Dinner was supremely enjoyable, as I hadn’t seen Jodi, Rob and Joan in so long, and it’s always fun to be with them. Rob told us a great story about him eating apples to raise money for charity. The goal was 25 apples in about 7 hours. They got sponsors in on it, and while he only ate 17, he still made $1000 for charity. Can you see why I love these people? Who tries to eat 25 apples?
It’s freaking cold here, and yet we still walked from the hotel to the restaurant and back. I feel better about myself when I walk instead of riding in the car, since it’s literally across the street. I know, it’s minor, but every little bit helps, right?
Tomorrow will be a long (boring) day of meeting time, but at least tomorrow night I’ll get to spend some time with my friends. Having friends spread out all over the continent is rough sometimes, as I can’t see them whenever I want. But we all have a great time whenever we’re together! I love you guys!
