I’m so sleepy. I do not want to be awake right now. My body, however, won’t listen to me. I got to sleep this morning at 3:30 which would have been 2:30 had I remembered to switch my clocks. The late hour was well worth it, though. We all had a great time.
We started the evening at Natalee Thai, which was much better than I expected. I’m quite the picky eater, so when Greg suggested Thai food, I was very hesitant. But I hate being "that girl," so I said it was fine. I’m glad I did. I tried a fairly safe dish consisting of fried rice and pork (I’m only a part time Jew, remember?) and it was very good. I managed to use chopsticks for the majority of the meal, until my wrist began to cramp. Damn Carpal Tunnel Syndrome! Anyhow, it was yummy and I’m glad we went.
The show was next, and damn it was great. Some Alanis Morrisette/Lisa Loeb/Fiona Apple-ish chick named Ingrid was first. The only thing I remember about her is that she looked like singing was painful. I mean her facial expressions while singing just made her look like she was in pain. The songs were forgettable, but her voice was good. Not entirely my style, though. Next up was a band called Melee. I thought they were great. I bought the CD on the way out, and though I haven’t listened to it all, the songs I’ve heard are pretty damn good. And then there was Matt Nathanson. Oh how I love him. He’s just a ton of fun to watch. I knew all but 2 songs during the entire set. Greg, being the fabulous friend he is, bought me the CD’s that have the two songs I didn’t know, so now my Nathanson collection is complete. Poor Jen didn’t know any of the words to any of the songs (though the amount of alcohol she consumed made her not care at all) but she still had a great time. Duke did too, even if he did spend most of the night not quite blocking the walkway. (Be a man!) I can only assume Greg did as well, since he was pretty darn hammered by the end of the night!
After the show Jen, Duke and I hit Jerry’s Deli in Marina Del Rey, which has just become my new favorite place to eat. The menu is like 15 pages long! The bowls of ice cream were bigger than any I’d ever seen. Plus they had a wide range of food to choose from AND they’re open 24 hours! What could be better?
Anyhow, the whole night was lots of fun. I woke up today with quite the headache, and spent a good chunk of the day laying on the couch, wishing my head would fall off. (Which is odd because I hardly drank anything last night). And now, I am off to try and fall asleep. Wish me luck.
